It would seem that no matter what the naysayers do to put down worthiness of ‘green’ issues, they are here to stay, and rightly so in our opinion. Now, we are not about to start telling everyone to turn all there lights off every time they leave a room, or tell them to stop taking a well deserved holiday abroad. But here at Love Your Landlord we feel it is important to do our bit to encourage greener living.
Green issues do not simply come down solely to ‘global warming’, and the choice to ‘believe’ in green issues shouldn’t either. Green issues take many forms – global warming (of course), recycling and waste disposal, renewable energy and many others. Although the main reason behind most green ideas is to cut carbon emissions there are many other beneficial side effects to being greener.
Take recycling, the main aim is to reduce the amount of carbon needed to produce a product from scratch, and reduce the impact on the landscape caused by digging for raw materials. However a massively beneficial side effect of recycling is a reduction in the space taken up in landfill. The UK alone has over 1500 landfill sites. 1500! The UK is a tiny island with a growing population, surely we need as much space as we can get.
Next, its renewable energy. Again, great for reducing the amount of carbon pumped into the atmosphere through burning fossil fuels. But far aside from that is the hugely important fact that we are not far from running out of fossil fuels. What will we do when they are gone? Also, fantastically, once you've made the initial outlay many renewable energy sources are free for life! So you save money. Or, produce enough and you can sell what you don’t use back to the national grid. What’s not to like!
There are added benefits to all of the issues covered by the umbrella of 'Green Issues' and that is why Love Your Landlord wants to do its part to help. We want to help people get the information to make the right choice
